TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) will operate 5 out of 14 airports for 24 hours during this year’s Eid exodus season known locally as Mudik due to high demand from air carriers.
The five airports consist of Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin in Makassar, Sam Ratulangi in Manado, and the Lombok International Airport.

In normal operation days, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai and Juanda Airport do not operate for 24 hours. “But because of high demands from air carriers, both of these airports had to add their operational hours,” said AP I President Director Faik Fahmi on Sunday, May 26.
He assures that the additional operations are followed-up by mitigations in areas of security, natural disasters, and flight delays. As of security, AP I has coordinated its efforts with the Army, Police, local airport authorities, search and rescue team, and customs.
The security personnel from the National Armed Forces (TNI), Police personnel, and aviation security (Avsec) patrolling airports will dispatch 4,307 people.
